MHA Dinner Program – May 13, 2024

The MHA Summer Dinner Meeting will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church on May 13, 2024.
As usual, the dinner starts at 6:30pm and the presentation around 7:15pm. The presentation is free. If you wish to order dinner, which is boxed dinners from Jason’s Deli, purchase options are available below.
Our own Michael Connor will speak on the life of the Black community in Cornelius and the surrounding area during the second half of the 20th Century. He will focus on the schools available including the endangered Torrence-Little school, using his own family’s experience to illustrate the context.
Michael is now a docent at Torance House and Store. He is also a professional actor with extensive Hollywood credits and a few fun stories about this time there.
If you’d like to order dinner with your ticket (below), these are the meal selections available:
- Nutty Mixed-Up Salad (light) – (430-770 cal) 100% antibiotic-free chicken breast, organic field greens, grapes, feta, cranberry-walnut mix, organic apples, balsamic vinaigrette.
- Shelley’s Deli Chick – (650 cal) Family-recipe chicken salad with almonds and pineapple, leafy lettuce, tomato, toasted croissant.
- Amy’s Turkey-O – (450 cal) Roasted turkey breast, sliced avocado, jalapeño pepper jack, red onions, tomato, leafy lettuce, stone-ground mustard, toasted onion bun.
- Club Royale – (680 cal) Nitrite-free smoked turkey breast and ham, bacon, Swiss, cheddar, leafy lettuce, tomato, honey mustard, toasted croissant.
- Great Southwest Bowl – (710 cal) 100% antibiotic-free chicken breast, romaine lettuce, rice, pico de gallo, roasted corn and black bean salad and guacamole, cheddar, jalapeño ranch dressing. Southwest spices.
- Reuben THE Great – (610-1170 cal) 1⁄2 pound of hot corned beef or pastrami, Swiss, sauerkraut, 1000 Island, toasted NEW Marbled Rye.
- The Big Chef – (1030/520 cal) Nitrite-free ham and roasted turkey, Asiago, cheddar, grape tomatoes, kalamata olives, hard-boiled egg, mixed salad greens, ranch.
