On May 19th, the 250th anniversary of the convention in Charlotte, Sarah Sue and Laura will formally launch their new book, “One Day Revolution,” at the MHS evening meeting. In honor of the 250th anniversary of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence, these two MHS members have revisited the lives of those who signed that famous document. This is the first set of biographies to be written since the advent of the internet, so a great many new sources were available for their research.
Though the book started out to be only the biographies, the authors will explain why and how it expanded to include background on the role of Rev. Alexander Craighead, a new map of Mecklenburg County in 1775, a genealogical map of the interrelationship of the Signers’ families, and other fascinating bit of data on our founding families.
Books will be available for purchase on-site and on Amazon in mid-May.
Join us for an evening of history, discussion, and celebration!
Dessert, coffee and wine will be provided.
