Featuring a performance and reading by award-winning actor, playwright and director Michael D. Connor reading Don Tate’s children’s biography of African American poet George Moses Horton. Horton was an enslaved person and the first published black poet in the South. Valentine’s craft workshop featuring historic and artisanal techniques follow the reading. Refreshments and supplies included. All proceeds benefit historic preservation and conservation efforts of the site.
